On November 30, 2023, the Datang Binzhou Coal-Fired Power Plant Energy Storage Coordinated Frequency Regulation Project, jointly constructed by Beijing Yuanhe Zhichu Energy Co., Ltd. and China Electric Engineering Group Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd., was fully connected to the grid at its rated capacity and successfully achieved coordinated frequency regulation operation.
On November 30, 2023, the Datang Binzhou Coal-Fired Power Plant Energy Storage Coordinated Frequency Regulation Project, jointly undertaken by Beijing Yuanhe Zhichu Energy Co., Ltd. and China Electric Engineering Group Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd., was fully connected to the grid at its rated capacity and successfully achieved coordinated frequency regulation operation.

Located within the Datang Binzhou Power Plant in Binzhou City, Shandong Province, the project boasts an installed capacity of 10 MW/10 MWh and utilizes 1P liquid-cooled lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage technology. The project was awarded the bid in September 2023, commenced construction in mid-October, and shipped its equipment in early November. After less than two weeks of commissioning, it has been successfully connected to the grid and put into operation. The grid-connected operation of the Datang Binzhou Coal-Fired Power Plant Energy Storage Coordinated Frequency Regulation Project will effectively enhance the frequency regulation performance of the generating units, improve the stability and reliability of power grid operations, and provide strong support for Shandong Province’s energy transformation and development.

In the course of project construction, the Yuanhe Energy team fully leveraged its technological strengths and extensive experience in the energy storage field, ensuring that the project was completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. This project is the third AGC thermal power energy storage frequency modulation project in Shandong Province, following Huadian Laicheng and Datang Linqing. It is another energy storage combined frequency modulation project undertaken by Yuanhe Energy within Shandong Province, following the delivery in June of this year of the flywheel energy storage primary frequency modulation project for Huaneng Laiwu Power Plant. The Yuanhe Energy team has successfully delivered dozens of demonstrative energy storage combined frequency modulation projects. The smooth commissioning of this project marks a further validation of Yuanhe Energy’s technical prowess and engineering construction capabilities in the field of energy storage frequency modulation.
