Frequency Regulation in Thermal Power
Abstract:
The rapid response characteristics of energy storage systems enable efficient coordination with thermal power units. Energy storage systems can respond at the millisecond level, delivering precise output to assist thermal power units in complying with AGC dispatch commands from the grid. This effectively addresses the shortcomings of thermal power units—namely, their delayed response and insufficient regulation accuracy—thereby improving unit operating performance, reducing penalties under regulatory细则, and increasing revenue from ancillary services. At the same time, it reduces equipment wear and tear, extends equipment lifespan, enhances power plant operational reliability, and ultimately strengthens grid frequency stability while lowering frequency regulation costs.

Energy storage systems can respond at the millisecond level, delivering precise output to assist thermal power units in complying with AGC dispatch commands from the grid. This effectively addresses the shortcomings of thermal power units—namely, their delayed response and insufficient regulation accuracy—improving unit operating performance, reducing penalties under regulatory rules, and increasing revenue from ancillary services. At the same time, it reduces equipment wear, extends equipment lifespan, enhances power plant operational reliability, and ultimately strengthens grid frequency stability while lowering frequency regulation costs.
